Composition—the creative arrangement and placement of visual elements within the picture frame—is the most difficult aspect of the art of photography to master, and also the most important. A snapshot shows the world what your camera sees, but when you create a successful composition, you show the world what you see. In this presentation, Ian will teach you how to see the world in ways you never before imagined, and to successfully share your artistic vision. You’ll learn how shape, line, color, and tone can all be used to entice the viewer’s eye into your photo compositions and never let go.

  • The fundamentals of powerful visual design, which will allow you to make artistic photos that tell the stories of your subjects.
  • Learn to think like an artist and use color, shape, and luminosity to compel the viewer’s eye and hold interest over time.
  • Discover compositional techniques for making compelling photos that stand out from the crowd.
  • Take your photography beyond mere snapshots, and learn how to make powerful photos that get noticed.
  • You won’t get a bunch of composition theory mumbo-jumbo. In-depth explanations of easy-to-understand concepts illustrated with clear examples.

You’ll be able to easily apply these techniques when you are making photos on your own.
