Close Encounters of an Alligator Kind

I love using foreground elements in my photographs. By combining a strong foreground element with a wide-angle lens, the viewer can feel like he or she is looking out of a window. But never did I imagine using a live wild alligator for a foreground element! So, when this friendly alligator decided to show up and pose for me under spectacular skies, I was a more than a bit nervous. Here is what happened:
